The McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater, will be holding monthly Film Club screenings, where cinema-goers will be able to watch films released in the comfort of the Theatre’s authentic setting.
March’s film will be Amy (15), on Thursday 24 March, 7pm, which features unseen archive footage and unheard tracks by Amy Winehouse. The film, directed by Asif Kapadia, recently won the Best Documentary category at the European Film Awards and explores how the extensive media attention, along with Amy’s troubled relationship and precarious lifestyle, saw her life unravel.
Marshland (15) will be shown on Thursday 14 April, 7pm. Set in the year 1980, the film tells the story of two ideologically opposed homicide detectives from Madrid who are sent to a forgotten town on the Guadalquivir Marshes to investigate the disappearance and murder of two teenage girls.
Tickets cost just £4 per film. Alternatively, The McMillan Film Club Membership costs just £10 per year, with each film costing only £2. Members also get to have a say on what films are screened. To book tickets, visit www.mcmillantheatre.com, or contact the Box Office on 01278 556677, or book in person from 10am – 2pm, Monday to Friday.
