Former Bridgwater College student, Megan Hart, who is Bridgwater College’s Visual Art Department’s appointed Artist in Residence for 2015/16 is to hold an exhibition at The McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater.
The free exhibition is open to the general public and starts on Tuesday 3 May from 4pm – 5.30pm, with a chance to meet the artist. It will then be open Monday – Friday, 10am to 2pm from 4 May until 17 June. The exhibition will be predominantly oil paintings, with some sketches, and will provide visitors with Megan’s interpretation of the Theatre.
Megan, 19, from Bridgwater, who studied the Extended Diploma in Art and Design before progressing to the Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media, currently works as a freelance artist alongside her role with Bridgwater College as the Artist in Residence. The purpose of this role is to celebrate the ongoing achievements of former students and to help foster a lively creative arts scene within the town.
Megan said,
“I feel very privileged to have been asked to come back to Bridgwater College as the Visual Art Department’s Artist in Residence. I have tried to capture what the Theatre is about and the different sorts of performances that it holds.”
Mark Fearbunce, Bridgwater College Course Leader in Art and Design said,
“Painting is Megan’s passion and she has received awards for her success in oil painting; we are delighted that she has continued working with us. Upon completion of her College course, Megan won the ‘Best in Show’ award at the summer exhibition for her series of portraits. Her extraordinary talent in painting is inspiring.”
