The Walled Gardens of Cannington will be opening its doors for charity for the National Gardens Scheme Open Weekend on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April, 10am – 4pm.

Last year over £520 was raised from entry fees, which was donated to the National Gardens Scheme’s chosen charities. This year they are supporting Macmillan, Marie Curie, Hospice UK, Carers Trust, The QNI, Perennial, and Parkinson’s UK.

Over the weekend, the Gardens will be full of spring colours including the newly installed Royal Entrance, which has been planted in oranges and purples, along with an evergreen structure, which will provide a warm welcome to visitors. Throughout the Gardens, the annual displays will be in full flower, including primula, wallflowers and ornamental daisies, which amounts to thousands of plants.

Carpets of blue envelop the Blue Garden as scilla, chionodoxa and anemone announce that a new season has arrived. Regardless of the weather, the Botanical Glasshouse, the only one in Somerset, is divided into climactic zones, including tropical and arid, which provides visitors the chance to travel around the globe.

Visitors can also enjoy a break in the Tea Room, Gift Shop and Plant Nursery. Normal entry fees of £3.95 per adult apply, with free entry for under 16s, when accompanied by an adult.
