Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction T Levels students were joined by Willmott Dixon’s Anthony Rees earlier this month via video call.
Anthony shared his inspirational journey from school to the prestigious Willmott Dixon management scheme. Now in his fourth year of the scheme, which will give him a degree on completion as well as important experience in the construction industry, Anthony stressed the importance of work experience to getting ahead in the construction industry.
Willmott Dixon is a privately-owned contracting and interior fit-out group. Founded in 1852, the successful business is dedicated to leaving a positive legacy and is aiming to become a zero-carbon business with all new builds and refurbishments it delivers from 2030 onwards being net-zero carbon in operation.
Willmott Dixon is one of many businesses supporting Bridgwater & Taunton College’s T Level students, not only by offering time for employees to engage with them but also providing two industry placements.
T Levels will offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days). These 2-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work. Subjects include:
- Digital production, design and development
- Construction: Design, surveying and planning
- Education and childcare
Bridgwater & Taunton College are looking for dynamic and pioneering employers to become T Level partners for each of the courses, with the commitment predominately being based on your business offering Industry Placements for BTC students.
