Team BC Girls Elite Hockey played a friendly fixture against Richard Huish at Kings College, Taunton. From the first whistle Team BC started with confidence, pushing forward through Lucy Derrick and Shannon Johnson.
Derrick and Johnson were at the centre of most of the play and were instrumental in the away sides play, covering and distributing from defence as well as making some surging runs through midfield. The Huish attack was quick and this unlocked the Team BC defence earning them the decisive goals – two in each half.
There were also three new additions to the Team BC squad; Beth Newton and Beth Johnson were welcomed into the squad and they played extremely well after joining up with the squad at such late notice, they gave 100% effort and made a real difference in the side.
Alice Fry and Erin Martin provided the legs in midfield and ran tirelessly in support of the attack. Despite the chances created in the circle Team BC were unable to convert and so the Huish defence stood firm and claimed a clean sheet from the tie.
Ella Beauchamp who was injured and unable to play, took up the management role and ran the substitutions. She said,
“The team spirit was really good today and the girls played amazing.”
Coach Sheila Burridge added,
“This is a developing team and the performance today was the best so far this season.”
Final Score: Team BC 0 – 4 Richard Huish
