Participants in the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) develop an array of virtues, including:

• Commitment.

Not only is it an experience that will last a lifetime, it’s a fantastic addition to your CV and will really help you stand out from the crowd. Places on the DofE Award are limited, so it’s worth enrolling soon after you start College if you don’t want to miss out.

The Spirit of DofE Award

In 2024, Ali Stokes and Ellen Hawken from Bridgwater & Taunton College were awarded the prestigious Spirit of DofE trophy!

A residential saw 20 young people come together, including 9 from BTC’s Taunton campus, supported by their inspiring DofE leaders. Students from Plymouth City College and Foxes Academy also took part in this specially designed programme, which ensures every young person can achieve the Gold Award.

Ali and Ellen’s dedication has been instrumental in this milestone, and their efforts are paving the way for even more inclusive opportunities within DofE.
