The premise of the scholarship is to continue the virtues and beliefs Luke embedded through Team BTC and support the core values he characterised through his coaching, volunteering and participation in sport. The Luke Buckingham Sports Scholarship would therefore support and encourage BTC students within their chosen fields, whether that be playing high level sport, coaching, officiating or volunteering within the community.

The Luke Buckingham Sports Scholarship recognises those students who are not only competing in sport at a high standard, but are also excelling in their academic study and contributing to the wider sporting community.

There is £1,000 of sports scholarship available to a carefully selected number of successful scholars, depending on their ability to meet the varying criteria.

Entry requirements

You need the following:

• A proven record of success in competitive sport at local, regional or national level
• A proven record of academic success or reference supporting excellent application and effort towards academic studies
• Evidence of contribution to local sporting community
• Successful completion of the Bridgwater & Taunton College Scholarship Application process

If you are unsuccessful in gaining a scholarship, this will not affect your Team BTC or BTC Active membership, or your main application to the College.

The scholarships are awarded on merit, however other bursaries are available for students from households with low income, which can be claimed in addition to any awards under the scholarship scheme described above.
