A Sport Development Day gives you the chance to come to one of our campuses in Bridgwater or Taunton (don’t forget to check which one!) and train with our professional coaches and course tutors.
You will play your chosen sport using our outstanding facilities, such as our 3G pitch, fully-equipped fitness suite or Sports Halls, developing your skills and knowledge of the game.
You can also ask more about Team BTC and the courses we offer at BTC. If you are thinking about studying a course at BTC, it’s also a great way to get to know our staff and campus.
Sport Development Days are open to any pupil in year 10 or year 11 at school (aged 14-16).
All abilities are welcome.
We have held Sport Development Days in netball, women’s and men’s football, rugby and basketball. See below for a list of what’s currently on offer.
If we have enough interest in other sports such as hockey, golf, trampolining, we would look into offering a Development Day for these, too.
We run them during the October, February and May half-term holidays, as well as the Easter break.
We also offer a pre-season programme throughout the Summer. See below or our Events page for a list of current dates.
Yes! All of the dates will be listed at the bottom of this page, or on the Events page on our website.
We’re really proud of the high level of sport played at BTC and how well our teams – also known as Team BTC – do competitively and within competitions.
If you’re hoping to join one of our teams, coming to a Sport Development Day will give you the opportunity to meet our coaches before you start your course.
You will be able to sign up for Team BTC training sessions when you start in September – who knows where it might lead!
Our coaches are all highly qualified and first aid trained. They will use their knowledge and experience to help you learn how to improve your game.
No. Anyone in year 10 or 11 at school (14-16 years old) can sign up for a Sport Development Day. You don’t have to have applied for a course at BTC.
If you would like to make an application after seeing our offering for yourself, however, we would be more than happy to support you!
Sports Development Days are free, but you must book a place.
All bookings are processed by Eventbrite. You can see more information at the bottom of this page. If the Eventbrite links are not yet live, please use the “Waiting List” form below and we’ll be in touch when sign-ups open.
You must bring suitable kit to wear for your chosen sport, as well as plenty to drink. Some light refreshments are also important, to ensure you have the energy.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with our Sports Team via sport@btc.ac.uk or contact Jamie Laird, Team BTC Manager, using lairdj@btc.ac.uk.
