Our Agriculture Innovation Centre at Rodway Farm is not only used as a first-class teaching facility for the students at Bridgwater & Taunton College, it also has resources and facilities to undertake commercial trial and research work.
Focused around the livestock sector, Rodway Farm has a dairy herd and sheep flock. Our students’ experience is enhanced by our commercial partnerships, allowing them to explore and engage with cutting-edge technology used in the farming business.
We work very closely with the agriculture industry; students attend shows and demonstrations and industry representatives come into College to deliver training sessions. Students undertake work experience and complete skills-based and supervisory farm duties to add value and enhance employability skills and progression opportunities.
Our students have the full benefit of outstanding teaching resources and facilities across all aspects of agriculture including arable, mechanisation and livestock management. Other resources include welding and fabrication workshops and laboratories equipped with the latest scientific equipment. We also have a fully equipped Biosecurity Centre ensuring that students work to unrivalled standards of disease prevention and control.
The Agriculture curriculum area delivers a wide range of educational and training programmes for full-time, part-time and Apprenticeship students from Foundation Level to full Honours Degree. We continue to drive forward with our fast growing and dynamic curriculum meeting the needs of the agricultural and land-based industries.
