Our Halls provide home away-from-home accommodation for up to 330 students across both our Taunton and Cannington campuses.
We pride ourselves on the facilities we provide for both our students and the local communities. We will supply you with the necessary resources you will need to make your stay with us as convenient and as comfortable as possible.
Our Cannington accommodation is available for both under 18s and over 18s studying at Bridgwater & Taunton College. Our Taunton accommodation (Canonsgrove) is only available to our higher education students who are over the age of 18.
For students who wish to live in shared accommodation in one of our local towns or villages, or rent a room in a private house, our accommodation office collates a list of suitable properties. These are not managed by the College or the University Centre Somerset, and students are responsible for agreeing suitable terms with landlords.
Our Restaurant provides a range of homemade nutritious meals, (Monday – Friday) We see breakfast as an important start to the working day and offer a wide range of breakfast options including: full cooked breakfast, freshly baked pastries, cereals, homemade yoghurt, fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Lunch and dinner menus are extensive, offering home cooked main dishes, freshly prepared vegetables, homemade soups, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, homemade cakes and a large choice of home prepared salads and sweet pots. There is also a wide range of ‘grab and go’ products on offer. We always use local suppliers wherever possible and mindful of sustainable produce and our impact on the environment.

Our Learning Resources Centre at Cannington (LRC) is open for students to use Monday – Friday. There are areas set aside for quiet study or group work, with access to networked computers, scanners, photocopiers and the internet. There are also books, textbooks, magazines, journals, films and music available as resources.
Cannington
Cannington facilities include free Wi-Fi, on-site restaurants and cafes, free on-site parking and a laundry. There is a communal common room which is open for all students to use and contains pool tables, games machines, juke box, projector TV, Wii console and DVDs. We also have a bar on-site which opens on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings only and sells soft drinks and alcoholic beverages for students aged 18 and over. The common room is open from 8am – 5pm and then 6pm – 2am for students to use.
Taunton
Taunton’s over 18s halls have a laundrette, as well as a bar, communal lounge, pool table, sports hall, outdoor barbecue area and caf√©. It is overseen by a team of wardens, who ensure a safe and friendly environment where everyone is valued.
We have many commercial ventures available for both our students and the public to use, including our Hair & Beauty Salons at both Bridgwater and Taunton; Quantock Restaurant; Equestrian Centre; Golf Course with 9 holes and 18 tees, golf simulator and driving range; Cannington Activity Centre high and low ropes course; Walled Gardens and Tea Rooms.
Somerset remains one of the most stunning and varied of counties. It offers spectacular scenery, a rich cultural life, busy shopping centres and lively social life including clubs, restaurants and pubs, cinemas and bowling alley. There are also a range of interesting tourist spots all within easy reach.
Taunton has easy access to train, bus links and motorways to London, the Midlands and Wales. It is approximately one hour’s drive from Bristol and Exeter airports.The halls have a varied calendar of social events, from sporting events to party nights. You will be kept well up-to-date with all up and coming events.
The village of Cannington is located three miles outside the town of Bridgwater. It is a charming village which plays host to a number of local shops for your convenience such as a post office, newsagent, butcher, baker, hair and beauty salon, church, bed and breakfast houses as well as public houses and many more local entertainment attractions.
Buses run regularly to and from the College from Halls. Excellent transport links to the M5, A38 and A39 allow easy access to the coast, Devon and Cornwall. There are cycle racks available at both of these campuses.
Parking is free but spaces are limited. All vehicles are left at your own risk. You must take out appropriate insurance as the College will not cover any loss or damage. Please note bicycles are not allowed in any Halls’ buildings. If found, they will be removed and placed in the cycle racks provided for your use.
