We do ask where possible that you assist in the aftercare of your horse or pony. This helps you to develop a bond with the horse and develop your equine husbandry skills.
We run regular training sessions to assist with this; ask in the office for the next dates.

This is for current CLTH students, or students that may want to join the 2025 intake in September. The day will consist of grooming, handling and behaviour, as well as feeding and riding (weight dependent – please see booking terms).
CLTH aims to improve the lives of young people who, for various reasons, may need additional support, are disengaged, or disadvantaged, or at risk of becoming excluded from education.
Using horses as the inspiration for change, the programme provides an alternative and complementary learning environment to mainstream education. The skills developed through the programme meet the requirements of ongoing education and training, employers and participants.
The programme works to develop six key life skills through equestrian activity:
There are two frameworks – the achieve awards and the explorers awards. Both offer horse care and ridden modules. Our bespoke programme at Cannington Equestrian Centre aims students towards integrating into further education in the College and developing further though the BTC Advantage.
The session includes a 40 min ride and care session and runs from 9.30am until 1.30pm.
£51 per session.
If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing equestriancentre@btc.ac.uk or by calling 01278 655023.
Thursday 10 July, Thursday 24 July, Thursday 7 August, Thursday 21 August | 10am-3pm
Running over a course of four sessions, this course is for experienced riders who are able to confidently walk, trot, canter and jump 50cm.
The course runs over the summer, and you can join one session or all four to gain certification.
Riders who attend this course will ride twice daily in each session, and jump at least once, with one session working over poles and position, focussed on progressing skills and confidence in the saddle.
The sessions will begin by assessing current levels of rider ability. Riders will then be grouped into the right skillset for their progression. Our coaches will also be discovering what areas each rider would like to see personal growth within.
All riders will be supported through flat work skills, lateral work, independent riding, and pole sessions to support stability for jumping.
There will also be a daily learning module to support as much practical and hands-on time with the horses as possible.
Body protectors are compulsory. Only 6 spaces available.
£22 per session, or £80 for the full set.
If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing equestriancentre@btc.ac.uk or by calling 01278 655023.
