- Be proactive when searching for an employer and don’t be afraid to approach employers that you want to work with.
- Be confident and enthusiastic at your interview. Demonstrate what you have researched and why you want this opportunity.
- Don’t worry if you feel that you don’t know everything. Having things that you need to learn about your chosen career isn’t a bad thing, that’s why you’re applying to do the Apprenticeship!
- Always keep your CV and covering letters updated.
- Always aim for A-C in Maths and English GCSE, as Apprenticeships require these grades. Don’t panic if you don’t achieve them, there are a variety of Apprenticeships that can be done whilst you are undertaking your qualifications.
- Keep your options open.
- Keep an eye out on the National Apprenticeship Service website. Vacancies are added daily!
- Make sure you get somebody to proof read your application.
- Tailor your application form to every vacancy that you apply for. Don’t send the same information to each employer, as every role will be unique and have different requirements.
- Check your emails and phone messages if you are waiting to hear back from an application. Don’t leave it too long and miss out!
